  • Abstract:

A Calcaneal spur (heel spur) (Vaatakantaka) is a small osteophyte bone Spur located on the Calcaneal heel bone. Calcaneal spur are typically detected by a radiograph. There is no safe cost effective treatment in modern medicine. Ayurvedic medicine is one of the best for management of calcaneal spur. In this case study I just try to tell one of way to management of (Calcaneal spur) Vaatakantaka.

  • Introduction:

Calcaneal spur as per modern medicine and Vaatkantaka as per Ayurveda has and etiological and clinical relationship. Pain in the heel is one the most common ailment of foot. The most common form of heel pain at the bottom of heel. It tends without any apparent reason and often worsen when placing weight on the foot. Patient usually complaints of pain in a morning or after getting up to stand after sitting for a while. The pain can be sharp, shooting pain or present as a tearing feeling at the bottom of the heel.

Present illness

Patient was apparently healthy before 2 yrs. He develops early morning pain at heel region and difficulty while walking for period of 2 yrs. In while between he had taken treatment from K. E. M. Hospital and sion Hospital for the said problem, but does not get relief for a long period. So he came to M.A. Podar hospital to cure completely.

Past history

Medical- No h/o; HTN/DM/Epilepsy/PTB/Jaundice etc.

Medication history- No any history of medication.

O/E- G. C Good and afebrile

Pulse- 68/min

B.P- 140/80 mm of Hg
